Stick a wish

"There are two things people want more than money... recognition & praise"

Langkawi Nature Discovery tour - 1 day tour review

Pulau Langkawi, a place that I was so embarrass to admit to my friends that..... I've never been there before in my life. Thanks to Penang cc 's invitation, I finally have this opportunity to visit the island last Saturday together with 6 other bloggers.

8:15am - We met at Swettenhan Pier Pg, and the boat departed ~8:30am. Since it's a one day trip, I thought it should be a very short traveling distance (1 hour maybe?). But NOOOOOO....... i was wrong, it took me 3 hours to reach the island by sea, and another 3 hours to come back. Thank God, we have movies on the screen to kill the 3 hours!

Our transport to Langkawi
11:25am - Reached Langkawi. If you're traveling with begs and luggage, no worries, there are people at the jetty waiting to service you with their trolleys. But of course, I don't need that, all I need is.... just lunch. We jumped into the van provided, and headed to Charlie's place for lunch.

Cool! lunch by the sea. We were seated at the platform on the sea for lunch, overlooking the rich men's yacht parked at the club. Nice ambience, it would be a nice place to have a cup of latte and a plate of club sandwich during the sunset. I think the place would be even nicer at night. Our lunch was slightly lower than my expectation for the tomato soup, fried rice, fish & chips. Tomato soup is wayyyy too sour, which... i hate most. I would recommend to go for a better choice - club sandwich, sate (only the sate, not rice), beef burger, I find it quite nice.

12:30pm - After lunch, it's time to explore Langkawi. The first place for visit in our original plan should be Oriental Village - Langkawi Cable car. Unfortunately, due to some technical error they have to halt the cable car service for few hours, which... we do not have the luxury of time to wait. So we had a 10 mins window shopping in the "village"and move on to our plan B.

Oriental Village

Operating hours of the cable car

Plan B - Langkawi underwaterworld is a place where you definitely have to go if you're traveling with your kids. It's really a education trip for me, although the renovation of the place doesn't match my expectation... but hey, the fishes and animals inside are really amazing.

I overheard this auntie saying this to her friend :
"Singapore underwaterworld's design is nicer, but Langkawi have more collection of fishes here".

I'm not sure how true is this, as I have not been to S'pore underwaterworld since many years back. But let's not compare of what we have or what we do not, just open your heart to accept and admire God's creation of these creature, u might see the value of ur ticket differently.

By the way, look for the cute penguins, spotted eagle ray & the jelly fish, these are my favorites. They're just amazing creatures!

Think these are fake ones? NO! these are real sharks, but they just looks so fake

Here's a clip of video I took showing the spotted eagle ray :) isn't it interesting?

Our next destination of the trip is Kilim Karst Geoforest Park. I seriously like this place a lot, it's just out of my expectation. I like the rivers, nice geological landscape surrounded by bakau trees, rocks and hills in the park.

We started off our journey on the speed boat, speeding towards "Gua Kelawai" (Bat limestone cave), yes.... visiting the bats, and also living fossils. The cave is dark and we have to walk closely following the torchlight by our tour guide. It's so interesting to see bats hanging all around the top of the cave, and the dripping water of stones.

It's a wonderful sight to see mangroves swamp habitats even when we walk out of the cave. Mangrove trees stand in mud on roots that look like stilts above water that contains a high degree of salt.

Our tour guide explained that these mangroves trees are so important that that it provides support against strong waves and tides, and this it how Langkawi survived through tsunami.

I do wish Malaysia could have do more to preserve swamps like these and of course, plant more mangroves trees!

We visited fish farm as well. One of our friend tried to feed the spitting fishes with bread sticking on her finger. I took a video clip about it, so check it out. Look closely to the pond, as the fish will spit water trying to shoot down the bread, so that they can eat, so smart!

One of the photo I love most.

We met some kids on their sampan during our way back with the motor boat. Time were soooooooo little that we have to rush from one location to another, right after visiting eco park, we headed straight to the jetty.

The tour guide were kind enough to let us hang around Eagle square ~10mins for photo shooting, before we take the boat. As so.... this is the long waiting moment of mine, a picture that testify that I've been to Langkawi! Love way they build the wings of the eagle, showed mum the pic and she's impressed of the structure. :)

Finally we took our boat at 5:15pm, and each of us were given a pack of KFC as our dinner.
Thanks for the sponsor!

By the way, the boat that we took were super freezing cold, and that is totally very unpleasant ride to me. Thank God, we're able to climb up to the deck and escape from a few freezing cold moments.

I stole a glimpse of the sunset on my right and the moon on my left, while he stands beside of me. I think that's one of the best moment I would really want to thank God for. I feel so wonderful and blessed.

Kek Seng coffee shop

Coffee Shop
382-384 Penang Road
Penang, 10000

Tai Buan porridge

Tai Buan Porridge
173 Muntri Street
Penang

Jalan Muntri

~~~不然就是 “差人啊,走鬼啊” ~~~
看着一颗颗圆溜溜的鱼蛋漂在一层看似辣椒油(但却不是)的汤上,有感街边鱼旦卫生可能有点欠佳。我拉着 T 的袖子说,真的要吃啊?
“吃啦,不管了,来香港,一定要试”
看着板子上写着,10元5件。
“煎酿三宝,炸大肠,鱼肉烧卖,鱼旦,巴爪鱼,牛柏叶,海螺,芝士肠”
虽说平时勇于尝试的我,还是有点抗拒尝试炸大肠。毕竟香港的食物比较贵,倘若吃了不合胃口也觉得好可惜。所以,只点了鱼肉烧卖,鱼旦。就这样学着港人站在路边吃着热呼呼的鱼旦。老实说,吃过了之后觉得淡淡的,没我想象中弹牙的感觉,更没有鱼鲜味。有点失望,不过,当这次买个经验吃过了,感觉还好, 边吃边看着人来人往的旺角,别有一番滋味。
每转一个弯角都处处可见的鸡蛋仔,味道普普通通,不过胜在外表很得意
看着人来人往的旺角,此时此刻,我正希望快点吃完手中的鱼旦,然后再逛波鞋街
